NEW BOATING REGISTRATION CLICK FOR DIRECTIONS

The NH DMV is pleased to announce that a new style Boat Renewal Notice will begin going out to all boat registrants the week of December 8, 2025. This redesigned, double-sided 8 ½ x 11 notice (example below) is intended to simplify the renewal process for our customers.

Key updates in this new process:

Each registrant will now receive one notice listing all boats currently registered under their NHI or NHB, rather than one notice per boat.

Customers indicate which boats they wish to renew by checking the box next to each boat’s bow number and signing the notice.

The total amount owed per boat is clearly listed on the notice, and customers may submit one payment for all selected boats.

If no boxes are checked, it will be assumed the customer wishes to renew all boats listed, and the total amount due will appear at the bottom of the notice.

The Boat Renewal Notice is one of several ways customers can renew their boats:

Customers without a renewal notice may complete the DSMV 612 form (available here: rdmv612.pdf) for each boat.

Alternatively, they may visit any Authorized Boat Agent location listed here: Authorized Boat Agents | NH Division of Motor Vehicles with a valid ID.

We anticipate that customers may have questions about this new process. By sharing this information with you now, we hope you will be able to address most inquiries without transferring simple calls to the Agent Help Desk.

Important reminder: Customers who inadvertently register a boat they are not eligible to renew cannot receive a refund (RSA 72-A:10).
