The Town Master Plan is created under RSA 674:2 and is a document adopted by the Planning Board. The Exeter Master Plan covers a variety of areas outlined in the RSA.

The last major update to the Master Plan was completed in February 2018.  The 2018 Master Plan was a collaborative effort of elected officials, town administration, town staff, local business owners and roughly 1,000 residents.  Out of this extensive public process was the development of sixty-seven (67) Action Agenda items, specific tasks the Town would undertake to fulfill the goals of the 2018 Master Plan Update.

Action Agenda Implementation

In February 2024, the Town Planner conducted an analysis of the 2018 Master Plan to gauge the Town’s progress on the Action Agenda.  The Town Planner was pleased to report that out of the sixty-seven (67) items in the Action Agenda, sixty-six (66) of them have either been completed or are currently being worked on.  The one remaining item that has not begun is a Complete Streets Study.  However, the Complete Streets Study has been in the Capital Improvement Program for several years and is scheduled for funding in 2025.  This outstanding progress on the Master Plan is a testament to the dedication of Exeter’s engaged residents, business owners, town staff, and elected and appointed officials. The Master Plan page has been updated with the status report.
