Pickpocket Dam Removal

Saturday, November 1, 2025
12:00 – 1:00 PM
ON-SITE: Pickpocket Dam – 42 Cross Rd, Exeter, NH

You may know that the Pickpocket Dam on the Exeter River, located on the Town border of Exeter and Brentwood, does not meet dam safety standards. Following completion of the Feasibility Study, which evaluated options for modification or removal, the Town of Exeter has elected to move forward with removal of the Pickpocket Dam.

The Town and its design consultant are now advancing engineering design for the dam removal and associated site restoration. As part of this next phase, the project team is hosting a public site walk at the dam to provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the upcoming design process, ask questions, and view the project area firsthand.

Meeting Objectives:
· Provide an overview of the dam removal and next steps in design
· Share information about anticipated site changes and restoration goals
· Hear questions and comments from the public
Public participation remains an important part of this process to ensure the design reflects
community interests and values. We hope you’ll join us for this engagement event as we
begin design of the Pickpocket Dam Removal Project.
