Celebrating National Public Works Week in Exeter

Each year during National Public Works Week, communities across the country recognize the dedicated professionals who keep our towns running safely and efficiently. Sponsored by the American Public Works Association (APWA), the 2026 theme is “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community.”
In Exeter, Public Works employees work year-round behind the scenes — and often around the clock — to maintain the essential services residents rely on every day. From maintaining roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and town infrastructure to providing safe drinking water, sewer services, solid waste disposal, snow and ice operations, and environmental stewardship, Public Works plays a vital role in preserving the quality of life in our community.
Many of these services go unnoticed until they are needed most. Whether responding to storms, repairing water main breaks, clearing snow and ice, maintaining parks and public spaces, or supporting ongoing infrastructure improvements, Exeter Public Works remains committed to serving the community with professionalism, dedication, and pride.
National Public Works Week is an opportunity to recognize the hardworking individuals who help keep Exeter safe, clean, connected, and moving forward every day.
The Town of Exeter thanks all Public Works employees for their continued service to our community.
