Winter Emergency Parking Bans

3/2/2026: Crews will be working this morning to remove snow in the downtown area from String Bridge through Water Street. Temporary No Parking signs will be posted to allow equipment to safely and efficiently complete the work. Please plan accordingly and use alternate parking where needed. Winter Parking Ban

The Town enforces a Winter Parking Ban each year from December 1st to March 15th. Parking is prohibited within Town rights-of-way and along streets between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Vehicles in violation may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. This ban ensures safe and efficient winter snow and ice maintenance.

The Town enforces a Winter Parking Ban each year from December 1st to March 15th. Parking is prohibited within Town rights-of-way and along streets between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Vehicles in violation may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. This ban ensures safe and efficient winter snow and ice maintenance.

Snow Emergency Parking Bans

In the event of a predicted or ongoing severe snowstorm, the Public Works Director, with concurrence from the Chief of Police, may enact a Snow Emergency Parking Ban (Town Ordinance #102.6). These temporary bans allow crews to expedite snow removal, which often occurs overnight. Vehicles parked in Town rights-of-way during a Snow Emergency are subject to towing and/or ticketing.

Overnight Parking Options

Limited areas in Town allow for overnight parking and are clearly marked. These locations include:

• Front Street Lot - Designated spaces
• Train Station Lot - Designated spaces
• Water Street Municipal Lot - Designated spaces
• Pleasant Street - Eight (8) Overnight Permitted Spaces - permits are issued first-come, first-served through the Town Manager’s Office beginning Nov. 1st.
